Monday’s Music Moves Me – SONGS ABOUT REMEMBERING & SONGS ABOUT FORGETTING

Today’s Monday’s Music Moves Me theme is the brainchild of John from The Sound of One Hand Typing. He wants us to focus our playlists on songs about remembering or forgetting. I’ve put a playlist together utilizing songs about both. Some songs have the words Remember or Forget in the title and others are simply about remembering or forgetting.

Music, for me, in addition to simply digging the sound, is about nostalgia. Those who know me know I’m incredibly nostalgic. I love the past. That’s no secret when you walk into my house and see my orange crushed-velvet wingback chair from the 60s, my art deco bar, the funky retro floor lamp, the abstract and modern art on the walls and the far-out table lamps that came from my childhood home in the 70s.

Sure, I have a ton of regrets and life hasn’t always been all things rosy but for a good chunk of time, my years in the 60s and 70s were fantastic and fun. Music and nostalgia being undeniably intertwined is why Classic Rock is my genre of choice. It’s my time-machine back to those days.

Songwriters are well aware of the link between lyrics and memories and have crafted some wonderful time-travel tunes, tapping into the desires of those who want to remember or those who want to forget.  My playlist for today’s 4M post are full of songs with lyrics that speak to remembering past times. I’ve also included songs that specifically have the target words of “remember” or “forget” in their titles.

Being short on time, I’m simply listing the song titles and their artists or bands. I hope you enjoy. In the Comments section, tell me some of your favorite Remember or Forget songs.
