Well this was a fun little battle. I had a hard time deciding which way to vote because I love the way the Muppets toss their hair around and the guy on the sax made me giggle…and I had to crack up seeing the band’s fans bounce around in the audience. But over the course of the last week, the Chipmunks song was stuck in my head and I kept singing “I just want a hula hoop…” —that’s probably my favorite part, where the little ‘munk Alvin wiggles his butt when he sings about wanting a hula hoop for Christmas. I grew up with the Chipmunks and they’ve always been near and dear to my heart. I remember fondly playing their Christmas album over and over. Therefore I gave my vote to the Chipmunks.
But the number of votes just couldn’t compete with those of the Muppets. The Muppets ran away with this one, bringing in 12 votes to the Chipmunks’ 5 votes. I do wonder if I would’ve posted the original Chipmunks version from 1958 if that would’ve fared better? I chose the Chipmunks version from the 2007 movie because of the energetic video, which I thought matched the energy of the Muppets video.
