Another article about Raju

Here’s another article about the rescue of Raju, the elephant who was chained for over 50 years and used solely as a “beggar’s prop.”

This article gives a little more detail about the rescue effort. I’d like to keep up with this elephant. I hope the press keeps up with him too so we all can learn about his recovery and rehabilitation — hopefully now he’ll get to see that all humans aren’t monsters…

And here’s a video showing Raju getting treatment for the wounds on his legs, which are infected from the spikes on the chains gouging into his flesh. But he is on the mend now and hopefully he will go on to live a happy, healthy life!

Elephant sheds tears after being rescued

Elephant cries after being rescued and released from 50 years of torture and abuse.

This is just one of many horrific stories detailing the abuses that elephants are forced to endure. But this story, thankfully, has a good ending as this elephant was rescued and released to now walk free in an elephant sanctuary. He had lived 50 years alone, the only company he ever had were his abusers. He is now among other elephants and getting fattened up on healthy foods.

Watch the video (find it in the middle of the article) and witness the final shackles, chains and painful spikes being removed from his legs. Freedom lives for Raju! Thank God.
